Why Michigan Fishing Is Hard to Beat

Michigan has more freshwater coastline than any other state, and the southeast corner of it punches well above its weight. The Detroit River is famous for its spring and fall walleye runs, with strong current, deep channels, and seasonal migrations that draw anglers from across the Midwest. Lake St. Clair, sometimes called the sixth Great Lake, is consistently ranked among the best smallmouth bass fisheries in North America and holds trophy muskie, northern pike, and huge schools of yellow perch.
